The first stage, a time trial, is set on a course that has a few rollers and two fairly steep uphill climbs. Many riders choose to ride their road bikes because of the hills, but Daniel elected to use his TT bike instead. This proved to be a good decision, as Daniel found himself in 1st place by 1 second at the end of the day.
The second stage, a road race, is an 80 mile course consisting of 4 twenty mile loops. Early in the race there was a breakaway of 5 - 8 guys that held up until midway through the last lap. Unfortunately, Daniel and a few others worked hard to catch the break which left him without much left for the sprint finish. He did, however, get pack time for this stage, but ended up dropping to second in the GC due to the second place guy capturing a 6 second bonus by taking second place in the sprint.
The third stage was a circuit race that was marked by heavy winds and a fast pace. This race saw a successful breakway capture the win and enough time on the pack to win the GC and bump Daniel back to 9th place overall. All-in-all it was a successful weekend for Daniel and a great start to racing in the cat 2's.
